The Seer ("we", "the app") is a browser-based astrology oracle at theseer.xyz. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data stored on your device

All personal data you enter — birth date, time, location, name, and reading history — is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. We do not have access to this data. It never leaves your device except as described below.

2. Data sent to our servers

When you ask The Seer a question, we send the following to our server-side API to generate a response:

• Your question text
• A summary of your astrological chart (planetary positions, not raw birth data)
• Current transit information

This data is forwarded to OpenAI's API to generate your reading. We do not store your questions or readings on our servers. OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy — API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.

3. Analytics

We use two analytics services to understand how the app is used:

• PostHog — Tracks anonymous product events (e.g., "question asked", "tab switched"). No personally identifiable information is collected. Session recording is disabled. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding product usage.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics — Privacy-first page view analytics. No cookies, no personal data collected, no user tracking.

4. Cookies and local storage

The Seer does not set cookies. PostHog uses localStorage for anonymous session identification. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. Your birth data and preferences are stored in localStorage solely on your device.

5. Third-party services and international data transfers

We use the following third-party services, which may process data outside your country of residence:

• OpenAI (US) — Processes questions to generate readings. OpenAI Privacy Policy
• PostHog (US) — Product analytics. PostHog Privacy Policy
• Cloudflare (US) — Hosting and analytics. Cloudflare Privacy Policy

Data transferred to these US-based services is protected under their respective data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses where applicable.

6. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process data on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance — Processing your questions via OpenAI to deliver the service you requested
• Legitimate interest — Anonymous product analytics (PostHog) to improve the service, without overriding your privacy rights
• Consent — Where required by applicable law

7. Your rights

Since your data is stored in your browser, you have full control. You can delete all data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for theseer.xyz, or by deleting your profiles in the app settings.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you also have the right to:

• Access the personal data we process about you
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Request erasure of your data
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority

8. Age restriction

The Seer is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has used the service, we will take appropriate steps to address it.

9. Data retention

We do not retain your personal data on our servers. Questions sent to OpenAI are processed in real time and not stored by us. Analytics data collected by PostHog consists of anonymous events with no personally identifiable information.

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
